Japan’s southwestern islands are on high alert following the approach of a powerful typhoon, named Bavi. As of July 10th, the system is expected to make landfall in the region and could bring strong winds and heavy rainfall.
‘The southernmost island of Okinawa Prefecture has already been hit by minor flooding due to rain from a previous storm,’ said local officials. ‘Residents have started preparing their homes for potential damage, including加固房屋和检查屋顶等措施.’
Ambient Conditions Ahead:
Forecasters predict the typhoon could bring gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour (56 miles per hour) and temperatures dropping to below 10 degrees Celsius. While the direct impact is expected to be brief, the storm’s remnants are projected to linger over the region for several days.
Precautionary Measures:
‘Local governments have instructed residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel,’ a spokesperson from the Japan Meteorological Agency stated. ‘All outdoor activities will be suspended during this period, including sports events and public gatherings.’
